Adoption Grants

There are many organizations and foundations that offer grants and financial assistance to help defray the costs of adoption. For families that qualify, grants are an excellent way of financing an adoption because the money does not have to be repaid. Grants are typically awarded based upon financial need or personal hardship, although each grant provider has its own eligibility requirements.  MAA is happy to provide verifications or recommendation letters to grant providers for MAA client families!

Our mission is to bring hope, love, and connection by serving children, individuals, and families in the areas of adoption, foster care, and support services. In fulfilling this mission, we realize that for a multitude of reasons, some of our families may need a bit of extra help.  We are here for you!  Although we try to be very generous with grants for the adoption of our waiting children, any MAA placement family may apply for additional agency fees to be waived.  A committee from our Board of Directors will meet at certain intervals to review applications and decide on grant amounts, ensuring this process remains completely unbiased.  Though there is no guarantee that additional fees will be waived, we are happy to review any request from our families.

Madison Adoption Associates Grant Application

Please note that Madison Adoption Associates is not able to issue tax receipts for direct donations toward the adoption expenses of a specific family.  We recommend that donations be made through a non-profit organization that can provide fundraising support to families.

Luke’s Legacy – An MAA grant for older boys.  In honor of Luke, we are humbled to announce the Luke’s Legacy grant to families adopting an older boy.  Older boys often wait the longest for a family, yet we know so many wonderful boys like Luke are waiting and hoping for someone to take a chance on them. This $1,500 grant (in addition to MAA’s $500 grant for children 8 and older) will be available to qualified families who submit a Letter of Intent, which is approved by the country, for a boy in any of our programs who is 12 or older. Luke, we so wish we had found you your forever family, but we pray you can rest easy knowing that your spirit will live on in this grant, and allow families to bring home older boys for years to come, in your name. And if you are not pursuing adoption at this time, but feel compelled to help, please consider making a donation via PayPal in Luke’s name to this grant.

For Ivy – An MAA grant for children with complex heart conditions
MAA is humbled to offer the ‘For Ivy’ $1,000 grant to families adopting any child with complex CHD, in honor of Ivy S., heart warrior.  A special thank you to Mary & Bryan, Ivy’s parents, for opening their hearts to Ivy, and for allowing us to be part of her legacy.  May many heart warriors come home to their families, in Ivy’s name, with the help of this grant.  And if you are not pursuing adoption at this time, but feel compelled to help, please consider making a donation via PayPal in Ivy’s name to this grant.

For Micah – An MAA grant for children with hydrocephalus
In honor of Mighty Micah Smith, MAA is proud to offer the ‘For Micah’ $1,000 grant to families who adopt a child with hydrocephalus.  In his Mother’s words, ‘Our time with Micah was cut way too short, but those were some of the best days of my life. I would adopt him again and again if I had it to do all over. He brought so much love, laughter, and joy to our family. We loved him so much and are so grateful for the time we had. He left a mark on our hearts that nothing can erase. He became known as Mighty Micah who not only left an impact on us, but on an entire community. I pray that Micah’s story inspires others to adopt a child with hydrocephalus, and provide a forever family to a child.’  Our prayer, too, is that this grant in Micah’s name will help other families bring home children with hydrocephalus.  And if you are not pursuing adoption at this time, but feel compelled to help, please consider making a donation via PayPal in Micah’s name to this grant.

Matthew M. Flocco Memorial Honor Grant
In order to honor the service of American military personnel, Madison Adoption Associates provides an agency fee reduction of $500 for any family in which one or both parents are active or separated military.

Military service includes domestic or deployed service in any of the Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force, or National Guard.  Madison Adoption Associates will also provide this grant to first responders, specifically police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical service personnel.

floccoNavy Aerographer’s Mate 2nd Class Matthew Michael Flocco, 21, was in the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001 when the terrorists struck.  Just a few days earlier, he would not have been there at that hour: he’d recently been transferred off the night shift.

The “Matthew M. Flocco Memorial Honor Grant” goes into effect on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2016.  The fee reduction will be credited to agency fees due at the time of dossier submission.

Adoptive families who apply to MAA and wish to receive this grant will need to provide proof of their military service by submitting a copy of (1) Standard Form 180, Request Pertaining to Military Records, or (2) DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.  First responders will be required to provide a letter of service from their supervisor.

Brittany’s Hope
Madison Adoption Associates and Brittany’s Hope both believe in the fundamental right of all children to have the security and love of a family.  The cost of international adoption can be overwhelming and is only further compounded by the medical costs a child with special needs presents.  The Brittany’s Hope Adoption Grant Program provides grant monies while giving families the opportunity to raise funds so that the next child may also be united with their forever family.  Families applying for this grant will be responsible for fundraising one half of their total grant amount.

Madison Adoption Associates is an official partner with Brittany’s Hope and is proud to offer our client families the opportunity to participate in their adoption grant program.  Speak with your MAA Caseworker today to find out more.

Fund Your Adoption
One of the primary reasons preventing families from following through with an adoption plan is the high cost.  Our desire is to help educate families about all types of adoption, to remove barriers and misinformation, and provide smart financial solutions during the adoption process and beyond. Despite the fact that adoption can be expensive, there has never been a better time to adopt without debt. However, with so much information scattered across the Web, finding adoption grants and fundraising resources can be confusing and overwhelming. Since launching Fund Your Adoption, we’ve put together an extensive collection of adoption resources to guide you through the adoption journey and help you adopt debt free.

The Shepherd’s Crook Orphan Ministry
Madison Adoption Associates is an affiliate agency of The Shepherd’s Crook Orphan Ministry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit ministry funded solely through donations and fundraising activities. The children posted on the TSC website are eligible for tax-deductible donations. Funds are made available to the adoptive family as needed to cover the costs associated with that child’s adoption. Any MAA family adopting a waiting child may sign up to raise funds through The Shepherd’s Crook. Donations may be made in the form of a one-time contribution or ongoing support.  The Shepherd’s Crook Ministry founders and staff feel a great burden of responsibility before God and those who donate, to be prudent in the ways they use the funds. They have a board of Godly men and women who guide and direct the activities of the ministry.  Read more about how to Donate to TSC.
